Great Travels
Trips of a lifetime for lifelong learners!

Highlights of China & Tibet: May 29-June 16, 2004

(Rescheduled from 2003 due to SARS outbreak in China)
Don't miss out on these educational adventure trips for the body, mind, and spirit!

Great Travels is a new Colorado Mountain College program specifically designed for adventurous individuals who have a love of learning and a desire to experience the great travels and marvelous wonders of the world. Over the next several years, Great Travels will span the globe with fascinating cultural tours.

The program is conducted by CMC professors Dr. Peter Jeschofnig and his wife Linda who have lived and traveled extensively abroad. Peter and Linda believe adventure is intellectual curiosity in action and have been conducting CMC Study Abroad trips for over a decade. They developed this program at the enthusiastic urging of many previous travelers, including Jim and Connie Calaway.

The inaugural trip in this series is to China and Tibet and will explore the art, history, architecture, archaeology, food, and culture of those areas. Highlights of the trip will include Beijing with its Great Wall, Forbidden City, and spectacular Beijing Opera; Xian's fascinating Terra Cotta Warriors; Lhasa's Potala Palace plus Tibetan temples and monasteries with lectures by Buddhist monks; a cruise on the Yangtze River past the three gorges and the new damn; bustling Shanghai and a performance by the Shanghai Acrobats; plus leisure time in Hong Kong for final shopping. Pre-trip lectures and activities will be held in the spring of 2003.

The all-inclusive tour price of $4500 includes RT air by United, deluxe 4 star accommodations, all meals - except in Hong Kong where only breakfast is provided, all activities, and travel insurance. CMC tuition for 3 credit hours in cultural studies (ANT-221) is additional and costs from $21 to $82 per credit hour, depending on age and residence status. A $500/per person deposit is required to reserve a space in the group. This deposit, less a $100 administrative fee, is refundable through February 1, 2003. The balance of tour fees are due in full by March 1, 2003.

The group size is limited to only 20 participants, so don't delay, mail your preliminary registration form and $500 deposit now! Details of the itinerary and a preliminary registration form follow.
