SCORE Students and Community for Outdoor Recreation and Education
Soar bouldering wall Mission Statement SCORE is a student-run outdoor trip program whose mission is "To provide all CMC students with an opportunity to interact with elements of nature through safe and sound outdoor recreation activities. SCORE promotes environmental awareness, overcoming personal challenges, enjoyment of the outdoors, and educational experiences." SCORE Coordinator Rachel Landis is the SCORE coordinator for the 2006-2007 year. She has been planning lots of great trips. Stop by and let her know if you have any ideas for activities! SCORE's Outdoor Trips Students suggest, plan, and help lead outdoor trips throughout the school semesters. Using a committee format, students propose a trip they would like to see become a reality, research the feasibility, and then the group votes on the trip. If the trip is approved, students, with the help of the SCORE Intern, plan and lead the trip. Past trips have gone caving, rock climbing, ice climbing, fly fishing, skiing in state and out of state, backpacking, canyoneering, and many other trips. If it is outdoors and fun, it's fair game for the students of SCORE. 2006 Fall Trips have included: Sand Dunes, Climbing and Bouldering, and Warren Miller's Off The Grid. SCORE's Equipment Rental Program SCORE is also in the equipment rental business, supplying equipment for student adventures or ORL class trips for those who cannot afford their own gear. Following is a current list of equipment rented and current prices:
