The Colorado Mountain College Professional Photography program is a very popular program. Due to limited facilities and in order to maintain a quality program, there is a cap placed on the total number of students that can be admitted to the program for Fall 2008. To be considered for admission to the Professional Photography program you must submit the following to the Spring Valley Admissions Office no later than May 15th:
1.
A completed admissions application.
2.
All Official college and/or high school transcripts. For students still in high school, please submit 7th semester transcripts immediately, and have your school send
the final official transcript immediately after graduation. For students with college work in progress, please send
a transcript showing all completed work and the work in progress
with a final official transcript to follow immediately
upon completion. Official
transcripts are transcripts sent directly to CMC from the school.
3.
Submit ACT, SAT, or Accuplacer placement scores.
4.
A non-refundable $100 deposit. This payment is separate from the Residence
Hall Deposit. Admitted
students will have the deposit applied toward Fall Semester darkroom/digital darkroom lease. The deposit will be returned to those
students who are not accepted.
Students will be accepted who both meet the admission
testing requirements and complete the entire application process
listed above on a first-come-first-served basis. Eligible students will be admitted as
long as space is available, until May 15th. Students are strongly advised to keep
copies of all documents sent. It is also the student’s responsibility to assure
receipt of all information. Therefore it is recommended that you send
information by certified mail.
Students completing the application process
but not eligible for admission based upon test scores, and students
completing the admission process after May 15th but
before June 1st, will be placed on a waiting list. This wait list will be reviewed June 1st. Admission may be offered to wait listed applicants with the
highest test scores, if space is still available. Wait listed students may receive their $100 deposit back if
they withdraw their application from the wait list. Students who are not admitted from the wait list will have
their $100 deposit returned once classes begin. Students not admitted to the program may choose to attend Colorado
Mountain College and begin skills courses and/or other academic
courses. These students would have first consideration
for the following year. Students not admitted and not attending CMC must re-apply
for admission to future Professional Photography entry terms.
The Professional Photography
Program at Colorado Mountain College requires all applicants
to take an academic placement assessment in Math, English and
Reading unless exempted through transfer course work, or ACT/
SAT scores. Students who have ACT or SAT
scores that meet or exceed the required levels are exempt from
taking the Accuplacer Placement test. (See grid below for scores.) If a student does not have acceptable ACT or SAT scores,
he or she will need to take the Accuplacer Placement Test.
All Professional Photography applicants must
submit test scores by May 15th. For more information regarding Accuplacer testing, please contact
the Spring Valley Admissions Assistant, (970) 947-8276, or at
admspring@coloradomtn.edu.
The following will exempt students from the
Accuplacer testing requirement.
